Vestal and M-E High Schools team up to help Toys for Tots

Back in November, Vestal High School’s Club Council, which represents student clubs throughout the school, issued a friendly challenge to students at Maine-Endwell High School during this holiday season of good will. From November 13 until December 18, both schools coordinated toy drives to benefit Broome County Toys for Tots. The school collecting the most new toys for this organization was revealed during half-time of the Boys Basketball game on December 18, hosted by the Maine-Endwell Spartans.

Our Golden Bear and Spartan communities really know how to foster the spirit of giving… Over 1,300 toys were collected for children in our community! One school did win the challenge, but the real winners are the children whose holidays will be a bit brighter this year, thanks to the generosity of our Maine-Endwell and Vestal high school students, their families, and district staff.

From holiday elves to New Year’s resolutions to help the hungry…The next challenge between the two friendly rivals will be school-wide food drives January 3 – 30, 2018, to benefit the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW). These drives will culminate on January 30, when the Boys Golden Bears Basketball team tips off against the Maine-Endwell Spartans at Home.

Like the last one, this challenge is interactive!.. Attendees can bolster their home school’s advantage of winning this challenge by bringing non-perishable food donations to the game at Vestal High School at 7:15 p.m. on January 30 to be admitted for free.
