Vestal field hockey player Emilly Schutt, daughter of Jerrie and James Schutt of Vestal, signed her letter of intent on Monday, November 30, to accept a Division I scholarship to play field hockey with the James Madison University Dukes in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
A Junior Olympic Gold Medalist, Schutt has played varsity field hockey for the Lady Golden Bears for three years. Named a WBNG Scholar Athlete of the Week, she assisted her team in securing the Section IV championship for three years, as well as contributed to their two-time regional champion-ships and two-time NYS semifinalist achievements. In addition to field hockey, she was on the varsity track team for three years.
Off the pitch, Schutt is a Scholar Athlete, six-year honor-roll student and has served as a member of the Principals Advisory Committee at Vestal High School. While at James Madison University, Schutt intends to major in Biology.
