The Benefits of Looking at Nature

While we are practicing our social-distancing skills, it's also important to stay connected. Connecting to nature is good for our mental well-being, as well as our physical well-being. According to the University of Minnesota's 'Taking Charge of your Wellbeing' web page, "Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones."

The Public Information Office has been looking for Virtual Tours to brighten your time at home. Here are some we have found, from beautiful venues such as Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, and more. We will add to these links as we find them. Many museums, zoos and other places are offering free virtual tours during this time of social distancing.
