On Wednesday evening, Vestal Central School District hosted a Town Hall meeting to discuss the upcoming "electronic device pause" at the middle school. During the meeting school officials outlined the details of the device pause (which will include cell phones, smart watches and air pods), and explained its objective to foster better student engagement and reduce distractions in the classroom.
Attendees voiced their questions and concerns on issues, such as communications with their children during the school day, impact on learning and the pros and cons of limiting device usage.
Thank you to all who came out to our Town Hall meeting on the upcoming middle school electronic device pause. Our panel included members of the task force assigned to research this important initiative (parents, administrators, teachers) Superintendent Kasson, Dr. Clarke and Officer Cardarelli. We appreciate all of your comments, concerns and trust.
