Vestal Golden Bear Cross Country & Track athlete Timothy Smith signed his letter of intent to run with the Division I Binghamton University Bearcats on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He was joined by friends and family for the signing ceremony in the Vestal High School lobby.
Timothy is the son of Justin and Christi Smith of Vestal. A four-year Varsity member of the Cross Country team, he also participated in two seasons of Outdoor Track & Field and one season of Indoor Track. Timothy runs distance and hurdles, scoring as Section IV 2022 400 Hurdles champion and earning two Cross Country State berths. He was part of the 2022 All-STAC First Team for Cross County and secured an Outdoor Track State berth.
His legacy as a Golden Bear runner includes being number-two scorer on Vestal’s only 1 – 8 sweep at Sectionals. He is finishing his senior year strong, chasing the VHS 3K Steeplechase record held by Cal Michaels, who was a member of the school’s record-setting 4x-mile relay team!
Tim stays competitive academically, making the Honor Roll each semester and being inducted into Vestal High School’s Green & Gold chapter of the National Honor Society.
