Information on Annual School Budget Vote & Election of Board Members

The Annual Vote on the School Budget and School Board Election will take place between 12 - 8 p.m. on May 18, 2021

Important Change to In-Person Voting
To meet New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) safety requirements, the decision has been made to consolidate the polling locations to one site... The vote will now take place in the gym of Central Junior High, located at 201 Main Street.

This space is centrally located and handicapped accessible. A map of the location will be posted on the website as a reference. During the vote day, all current safety protocols will be in place. Masks will be required as well as 6-foot social distancing. Voting areas will be wiped down after every voter. Voters will be directed to return the pen with their ballot so they can be sanitized for reuse. Traffic patterns will be delineated. Election workers will be provided appropriate PPE. Voting will take place between noon and 8:00pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 201 Main Street in Vestal.

Please contact the District Clerk at 757-2265 or at [email protected] with any questions.

Application for Absentee Ballot
The application for an absentee ballot has been updated to reflect the option for voters to request an absentee ballot instead of physically going to the polling location to cast their ballot, due to COVID-19.

Option A.1. reads as follows:
“Illness” shall include, but not be limited to, instances where a voter is unable to appear personally at the polling place in which they are a qualified voter because there is a risk of contracting or spreading a disease that may cause illness to the voter or to other members of the public.

Timeline: The application must be received by the District Clerk prior to May 11, 2021, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter. If the ballot is to be picked up in person, the application for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk prior to May 17, 2021. Completed ballots must be received by the District Clerk at 201 Main Street by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, to be canvassed.

For convenience, the application to request an Absentee Ballot is attached below.

Absentee Ballot
Those voters who have registered with their county Board of Elections as permanently disabled will automatically receive an absentee ballot in the mail. Ballots for these voters will be mailed out May 7, 2021.
