VHS Odyssey of the Mind teams place in Top 10 at World Finals

We are extremely proud of the three Vestal High School Odyssey teams who placed first and second in Region 12 during the New York State Odyssey of the Mind tournament and qualified to compete in the O-M World Finals at Iowa State University May 25 – 28, 2022. We are incredibly pleased to share that all three teams placed in the top ten of their divisions at the World Finals. Here are the results…

Coached by Nicole Tulsey, the Vestal High School team of Angela Caler, Ella Coleman, Elinor Davidovich, Jessica Elie, Lian Genese, Delaney Schoenfeldt and Jaelynn Wiggins took fourth place in Division III, Problem 3 – “{Name Here} The Musical Production.”

Placing seventh in Problem 1 – “Escape vRoom” was the team of Charlotte Coker, Hridayanshu Das, Keira DeVantier, Clark Donacik, Brenden Horn, Alex Jiao and Leah Jones. They celebrate this victory with their coaches Jeff Donacik and Jeff Horn.

Finally, the team of Abeera Chaudhri, Nabeeha Chaudhri, Amina Haq, Molly Hubbard, Megan Jones, Ella McIntyre and Asiya Patel placed ninth in Problem 5 – “(Performance) Life is a Circus.” They were coached by Sumeeta Chaudhri and Tonya Jones.

We are proud of each and every one of these students and their coaches but wanted to give special recognition to our senior members of these teams who will be graduating later this month. Angelina Caler, Jessica Elie, Lian Genese, and Delaney Schoenfeldt have devoted many years to the Odyssey experience!

It was valuable for our students to see a wide variety of creative solutions, have time to bond together, and meet teams from all over the world. They also enjoyed the experience of traveling independently, watching other teams’ performances, and trading O-M pins.
