Vestal Golden Bear Samantha Schaffer, daughter of Deb and
Scott Schaffer of Vestal, will join the Bloomsburg University Huskies in the
Fall of 2020. She is signing her letter of intent to play field hockey with the
Division II PSAC University. The signing will take place at 3 p.m. on
Wednesday, December 18, in the lobby of the Vestal High School, 205 Woodlawn
Drive, Vestal.
A four-year varsity letter-winner, Samantha contributed to the
Vestal Field Hockey team's success with career statistics totaling 34 points,
11 goals, and 12 assists. Her dues significantly played a role in Vestal winning three Section IV Class B titles during her stint and three NYS tournament appearances. She was named a First-Team All-Star her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, and team captain her senior season. In addition, Samantha played varsity softball as a
freshman and then varsity lacrosse for two seasons where Vestal captured Sectional championships as well. Samantha has been training with the USA National Futures Field Hockey Program for the past three years and earned a roster spot on the U16 championship team.
A
Scholar athlete and member of the National Honor Society, Samantha plans to
major in Early Childhood Education at Bloomsburg University.
