For the past eight years, the Mentoring Program here at Vestal High School has paired new students with upperclassmen to help them in their transition to high school. All of our mentors work hard to welcome new students and show them the ropes, but there are some who stand out among the rest.
This year, the freshmen and new students were asked if they would like to nominate their mentors for the Outstanding Mentor Award. While there were many nominees, there were 10 mentors nominated by all of their mentees. In addition to receiving excellent reviews from their mentees, these 10 student mentors also received glowing recommendations from this program's staff advisors about their diligence and responsibility in fulfilling their obligations as a mentor. We are so very proud of these students for their commitment to the Mentoring Program and for working so hard to make the school a better place for everyone. The 10 mentors who are being honored with the Outstanding Mentor Award are:
Adam Lewis, Jen Limer, Taylor Marcello, Anna Marchuska, Annabel Miller, Maggie Murphy, Tomiko Nicholson, Taylor Quillen, Lexi Thabet and Abby Williams
The Mentor Steering Committee would like to thank all of this year's mentors for their hard work, and we hope that current sophomores and juniors will consider joining our program and becoming mentors next year.
