Golden Bears' Barney and Mansfield sign National Letters of Intent

Vestal High School seniors Luke Barney and Dan Mansfield had a joint letter of intent signing ceremony at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, in the lobby of the school.
 

Luke, the son of Scott and Dina Barney of Vestal, signed his letter of intent with Division II Le Moyne College, accepting a scholarship to play golf with the Dolphins. A five-year varsity golf team member, he helped his team secure three Sectional championships, three STAC championships and three DiNunzio Golf Tourney championships. Luke also played three years of varsity lacrosse with the Golden Bears, and is a seven-time Scholar Athlete, as well as a member of the National Honor Society. He also played with the Vestal Hockey club team. Once enrolled at Le Moyne in the Fall, Luke will be majoring in Chemistry.

Dan, the son of Melanie and Scott Mansfield, signed his letter of intent with Division I Binghamton University, accepting a scholarship to play soccer with the Bearcats. Honored with the STAC Sportsmanship Award (2017) and the NYSPHSAA Sportsmanship Award (2017), he was named Vestal High School’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2016. During his four-year varsity career Dan assisted his team to score as four-time Sectional champs, three-time STAC champs, as well as Regional and New York State champs (2017)! A Scholar Athlete and Honor-Roll student, he is a member of Vestal High School’s Varsity Club and also volunteered at a school in the Dominican Republic as a member of the Young Life youth group. A two-time 12 Sports Athlete of the Week (2016, 2017), Dan will study Pre-Health at Binghamton University in the Fall.
