Vestal Golden Bear Cross-Country & Track athlete Simone Davey, daughter of Siobhan and Alan Davey of Vestal, who signed a letter of intent accepting a Division I track scholarship to Lehigh University on December 20.
Captain of the New York State
Honorable All-State Team, Simone has racked up many honors along with the many
miles she has run during her five years on the Varsity cross-county and track
team. She made the STAC First-Team All-Conference a dozen times, the STAC
Second Team All-Conference seven times, the Section IV First Team twice, and
the Section IV Second Team three times. Simone has been a Cross-Country State
qualifier five times, a Track State Meet qualifier twice, a Section IV and a
four-time Outdoor State qualifier, three-time Indoor State qualifier. The 2018
winner of the Section IV Sportsmanship Award and two-time Class B champion, she
has also been a runner-up in the McQuaid Invitational and a four-time Class B
runner-up. Finally, she has medaled in Section IV Cross-Country five times in
the outdoor 500, 600 and 1000!
Her academic achievements are as numerous as her athletic awards. Simone has been
on the Honor Roll for all four years at Vestal High School, and she took part
in the GAPP Exchange with German Club, as well as a Rotary Youth Leadership
conference. Upon graduation, she will have earned a Mastery in Science &
Math.
An all-around active Golden Bear, Simone is President of Vestal High School’s Interact Club, Vice President of the Green & Gold chapter of the National Honor Society, a student mentor and member of Varsity Club. She does Chemistry Magic for fourth-graders as part of the Chemistry Magic Show team and is also on the Running of the Bears 5K Race committee. On stage, Simone plays the violin and was a member of Vestal Voices for a year.
When she hits the track with the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in the
Fall, Simone will also be pursuing a major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
