He wears a tie instead of a cape, but to his students Vestal High School Music Teacher Gregory Harris is still a superhero! He was recognized as a Special Teacher in the “Teachers are Heroes” contest on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, in the Vestal High School Band Room.
Mr. Harris was the selected teacher for December 2019, and was nominated by listeners of Equinox Broadcasting group as a teacher who goes above and beyond for his students. Teachers are selected based on submissions from nominators detailing the effective and creative ways that they work with their students.
Serving as the District’s Music Department chair in addition to teaching band students and directing the school’s marching band, Mr. Harris led the VHS Marching Band to its first-ever New York State Field Band championship in October 2016.
