Beginning with the 2018-19 school year, the Vestal Central School District will be using a new system for sending out emergency notifications to parents and staff.
SchoolMessenger will provide the District with a more efficient and effective method of reaching our school community. In the immediate future, this will be used for emergency notifications, such as delays and school closures.
Enhanced Communication. District staff will still be accessible for in-person visits and will continue to communicate via current methods, including paper-based memoranda. The District's implementation of this system is intended to extend its commitment to remain personally connected with parents by offering additional and timely communications.
Participation is automatic. On the evening of October 4, 2018, the District issued a test call to all parent/guardian and staff contacts on file. If you have a student enrolled in the Vestal Central School District, you should have received a test call. If you did not, please contact the main office of your child(ren)'s school(s)to update your contact information. Please note, if you already returned a data verification form after the beginning of this school year, it has been entered into the system.
Opt-in for Text Messages. In addition, if you wish to receive text-message notifications, you will be required to opt in. An opt-in text message was also be sent on the evening of October 4. In order to continue receiving text messages from the school district via the SchoolMessenger system, you will need to respond to the message as instructed. If you did not receive a text message on October 4, please see the flyer attached below for instructions on how you can opt in for text messages now.
