How can Vestal CSD work with families and community organizations to maximize the benefits and minimize the costs of Internet technology with regard to social and emotional learning, mental health, and student engagement?

Purpose of Vestal CSD Device & AI Task Force

1. Review research related to the impact of Smartphones on students' mental health, social relationships, academic growth, and digital citizenship.

2. Based on the research above, make recommendations for adjustments to Vestal CSD policies, student handbooks, and/or internal protocols.

3. Explores the potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on K - 12 education.

4. Make recommendations for professional learning, curriculum development, and/or policies and protocols related to AI.

Understanding Apps & Parental Controls

A free community presentation open to any K - 12 parent featuring renowned Internet safety expert, Katie Greer, this is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., March 27, 2024, in the African Road Auditorium, 600 South Benita Blvd., Vestal.

Ms. Greer brings a wealth of experience from working with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office and the Massachusetts State Police. Following her talk, there will be desserts and activities focused on phone-security features with resources provided by local mental health and community organizations.
