The son of Lisa and Mark DeGroat, Todd was a NHSCA National Sophomore Champion, a Section IV Champion (at 195 lbs.) and a STAC Champion (at 195 lbs.). He also placed fifth in the NYSPHAA championship and is a New York State Scholar Athlete. A five-year Varsity Wrestler, Todd also played Varsity Football for three years. Off the mat, he participated in the Vestal High School Youth Police Academy, as well as Vestal Youth Wrestling and Vestal Youth Football.
Todd signed his letter of intent to wrestle at the Division I level with the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks, and his intended area of study will be Mechanical Engineering.
