Third Annual Mental Health Awareness Day
For the third year, African Road Elementary hosted Mental Health Awareness Day for students on May 25, 2023.
Students rotated through a series of stations to learn self-help strategies for promoting their mental wellbeing.
They created a calming bottle at the Calm, Cool & Collected station, learning some deep breathing and yoga techniques at the Movement and Mood station, and tried a mood-boosting yogurt parfait at the Healthy Eating station.
Students cuddled with therapy dogs, decorated the windows overlooking the courtyard with positive messages, and spun the Wheel of Wellness to learn about tools that can help them improve their moods.
The students also enjoyed a Sensory Scavenger Hunt outside at the "Walk Your Worries Away" station.
Many thanks to the African Road staff and volunteers who took the time to make sure ARE students know their mental health is as important as their physical health!
