Vestal Central School District is pleased to inform you that it plans to continue its Universal Pre-Kindergarten program for the 2020-21 school year, contingent upon the receipt of grant funding from New York State.
New York State includes funding for UPK programs to “provide four-year-old children with a universal opportunity to access high quality pre-kindergarten programs that prepare them for future success by developing strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.” Eligible children must be Vestal Central School District residents who will be four years old on or before December 1 of the year in which they are enrolled. Please note that Transportation is not provided for this free half-day program.
The New York State grant would allow 99 Vestal UPK students to attend a half-day program. If the District receives more than 99 applications, we will conduct a required lottery to pick students randomly. Students not selected will be placed on a waiting list, and parents/guardians will be notified as openings become available.
Please note, any child living in temporary housing in the Vestal Central School District who will be four years old by December 1, 2020, is eligible for a seat in this program.
If you are interested in having your child attend our UPK Program for the 2020-21 school year, fill out the application along with two proofs of residency to the address and return it to the address at the bottom of the application form as soon as possible. Please see page 2 of the attachment below for a list of documents acceptable for demonstrating proof of residency.
