On Monday, July 13, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that school districts in New York can follow plans to reopen for in-person schooling in September, if COVID-19 infection rates stay at 5% or lower in a given region.
The health and safety of our students, our staff, and their
families is our top priority. We want students and employees to feel
comfortable and safe returning to school. The submittal of the reopening plan
to the NYS Education Department, linked below, was July 31st and addresses the objectives put forth from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH), and the NYS Education Department (NYSED) guidance documents. The main objective of the plan is the resumption of instruction while controlling the spread of COVID-19. The plan is considered a “living” document and is not a final draft. The implementation of the plan will be the main focus of District work starting now and progressing through September 11th. Continuous
updates will be shared with students, parents, staff, and community.
IMPORTANT: The first day of instruction for students has changed to September 14, 2020.
